So here I am now. A long, long time ago I decided to take an Interactive Games Design course at my local college with the sincere aspiration of becoming a video game designer. Focusing every ounce of energy I had on Photoshop, Softimage, Java and everything to do with low-poly count character modelling, I was positive (like every other design/animation/creative-like graduate) I was going to be the bestestest animator/designer/character modeller that ever lived.
After graduating, I realized (a year too late) that the video game industry simply didn’t exist in my home town… Super! So I moved onto my second passion. Talking.
I took a job as a Project Manager at iC Group where my primary job basically consisted of translating geek-speak to marketing-gak (and vice versa, oh boy!) between web developers and marketing folks in the Interactive Industry (i.e. websites and online promotions).
After excelling at my second passion (talking), I was moved into an Account Management role where I got to talk even more! Sweet!
Through the years I’ve maintained a passion for video games. I don’t use that word (the passion word) lightly…
Video games are my escape. Video games are the only thing (besides kiteboarding but that’s a whole other blog and hobby my friends seem to like to mock) that keep my adult-onset ADD in check (self-diagnosed).
So here I am full circle. I decided to apply my very generic ’Communication Skills’ with my equally as vague ‘Experience in the Interactive Industry’ to my hobby of video gaming…
www.shave-reviews.com was born.
Wish me luck. I’m still not to sure what my plan is but at least I have a record of my nerdness for my children to be embarrassed about one day.
